🔮 Google's AI Changes: Watermarks & More!
The recent Google Cloud Next event ushered in significant updates to Google's AI platforms, with an emphasis on generative AI. Google announced several changes, including updates to its AI platforms Vertex and Duet and new collaborations with Nvidia amongst others. A hallmark revelation was a new "watermark" to discern between AI-generated images and those created by humans. Google's CEO Sundar Pichai delineated the company's dual approach of amplifying AI's benefits while actively seeking ways to mitigate potential risks, echoed in the introduction of this novel watermark feature. Six Flags disclosed plans to integrate Google’s generative AI tools into their mobile app and website, leveraging AI chatbots to aid users in their park journey.
Jasper AI made waves at the event, underscoring its role as a leader in the generative AI startup space. The company showcased its Google Workspace integrations, enabling marketers to create and modify content directly within Google Docs and Google Sheets. Well-known companies like Make, Zapier, and Webflow joined the ranks of Jasper's partners, bolstering both company growth and software adaptability.
Last week also saw considerable financial developments for marketing-focused AI startups. AI21 managed to secure impressive funding of $155 million from powerful investors, including Google, Nvidia, and Samsung Next. Conversely, a recent report from CB Insights noted an overall 38% drop in AI funding between Q1 and Q2 of 2023, spotlighting the rapid evolution of the AI domain and its challenges for startups.
In noteworthy updates outside of Google, OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Enterprise, a new tool offering corporates enhanced data protection. Uniting their expertise, IBM and Salesforce forged a dynamic partnership set to revitalize diverse tasks like data mapping and new integrations across Salesforce’s Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Slack.
